Setting Up Rotation of Templates in OC
Overview
This SOP outlines how to configure seasonal theme rotation in Oracle Commerce (OC) and how it appears in eSAT. This allows storefront themes to automatically update based on configured date ranges.
When to Use
- Setting up seasonal theme rotations
- Updating holiday or campaign-based themes
- Adding or modifying theme schedules in OC
- Troubleshooting theme rotation issues in eSAT
Systems Used
- Oracle Commerce (BCC)
- eSAT
- Jira (for reference tickets if needed)
✅ BCC Configuration (Oracle Commerce)
▶️ Step 1: Navigate to Theme Folder
▼ Navigation Path- Go to:Merchandising → Lookup → Configurable Items → Theme Folder → Seasonal




▶️ Step 2: Enable Theme Rotation
- Locate Enable Theme Rotation
- Set to: Yes
✅ This setting:
- Enables the Rotation Toggle Button in eSAT
- Allows multiple themes to rotate automatically

▶️ Step 3: Configure Theme Dates
- Click into each theme in the list
- Set:
- Start Date
- End Date
✅ Key Rules:
- Dates determine when the theme appears on the storefront
- Order of date ranges = display sequence in eSAT
⚠️ Important:
- Date ranges are NOT validated in BCC
- Must be configured carefully to avoid overlap or gaps


▶️ Step 4: Modify Existing Themes
- Click any theme to edit:
- Images
- Colors
- Display settings
✅ Focus area:
- Date range accuracy
- Correct theme configuration
▶️ Step 5: Add a New Theme
- Click the ➕ (Plus Button)
- Enter:
- Name
- Theme Key
- Image + styling fields
⚠️ Important:
- Name + Theme Key must be correct
- These are used by the system to apply the theme properly


▶️ Step 6: Deploy Changes
- Deploy the project after changes are complete
✅ Result:
- Updates will appear in eSAT after deployment
✅ eSAT Behavior
▶️ Step 7: Validate Theme Rotation in eSAT
Once deployed:
- Navigate to Site Theme section in eSAT

▶️ Step 8: Automatic Rotation Toggle
If rotation is configured:
- A toggle appears: “Use Automatic [Theme Folder Name] Rotation”
✅ Behavior:
- ON → Themes change automatically based on date range
- OFF → Florist selects a specific theme manually
▶️ Step 9: User Experience Rules
- If Auto Rotation = ON:
- No manual theme selection required
- Storefront follows configured schedule
- If florist selects a theme manually:
- Auto Rotation is turned OFF
⚠️ Important Notes
- Theme dates do NOT display in eSAT
- Dates are only applied when:
- Auto Rotation is turned ON
- Incorrect date setup can cause:
- Wrong theme showing
- Gaps in theme rotation
✅ Success Criteria
- Theme rotation toggle visible in eSAT
- Themes display according to configured dates
- No overlap or missing theme periods
- Florist experience matches campaign plan
