Regression UAT Process

Documentation on testing production after a release, patching, updates, or any time we’re not testing specific functionality

After there’s been an update to the platform it’s necessary to perform some “regression” testing. Regression testing is basically making sure that, after an update, there’s no critical functionality broken as a result.

Step by Step Guide

Please complete the following steps in order to ensure that all systems are operational after the update. It’s important to check all of the boxes so that we don’t miss a major issue that needs to be rolled back.

Storefront Testing

First, make sure that our storefronts are behaving normally:

  1. Navigate to www.webtf.com and validate that homepage is loading properly and appears correctly to the consumer
  1. In the top navigation navigate to Occasions > Birthday and select the Birthday category. Verify that the category loads products properly
  1. Select a product that is for sale, such as the Teleflora's Be Happy Bouquet and verify the PDP is loading properly
  1. Add the product to the shopping cart and complete the checkout process to make sure everything is functional. Be sure to enter your own email address to receive the order confirmation email.
    1. 💡

For checkout on www.webtf.com you can enter a fake credit card (Visa: 4222222222222) or select House Account

  1. Wait for confirmation email to confirm Iterable is deploying emails properly

Key Account Testing

It’s also important to verify that some of our key accounts are operating normally. You don’t need to complete the checkout process on each of them - just verify that they’re loading properly.

eSAT Testing

We also need to make sure that eSAT isn’t experiencing any issues that will make it inaccessible the following day.

  1. Login to eSAT at https://manage.eflorist.com
  1. Search for site 70011820 by the Teleflora ID
  1. Go to More > Site Theme and change the theme to Minimal > Minimal Light (Note: You need to select Back to navigate to the full theme list to select Minimal)
  1. Verify on the storefront that the theme changed properly
  1. In eSAT, change the theme back to Seasonal > Spring and save changes
  1. Verify on the storefront that the theme is back to the original selection
  1. Click "See It Live" in the top right corner of eSAT to launch the website and identify a product that is currently featured on the homepage
  1. In eSAT, go to Merchandising > Product Management and search for the product you identified from Step 7
  1. Edit the product, and modify the standard price by +$5.00 and save the changes
  1. Verify on the storefront that the pricing is reflecting your price increase from step 9
  1. Edit the product from Step 9 and decrease the standard price by -$5.00 to return it to the original price and save the changes
  1. Verify that the price has returned to the original price on the storefront

BCC Deployments

Last, make sure that BCC projects and updates are successfully deployed to production.

  1. Log in to the Production eFlorist BCC and create a new deployment project for Site Assets
  1. In Site Assets select "Find" and search for "70011820"
  1. Select the site in BCC and in the Site Info tab scroll down to the Site Contact Details
  1. Click the shop name in Site Contact Details to bring up the contact information
  1. Modify a value, such as the address, and save the changes
  1. Publish & Deploy the project and verify that the deployment was completed properly and without errors
  1. Verify the change is appearing on the About Us page of the site (http://70011820.preview.telefloristonline.com/about-us)

Update the Release Crew

Reply to everyone on the release email chain letting them know you’ve tested the above areas. Once that’s done & you’ve confirmed that you’re no longer needed to test anything specific you can go about the rest of your night.

“I’ve completed testing the storefront, key accounts, eSAT, and successfully deployed a project in BCC. All eFlorist systems are working as expected.”
